Activities of our Association
| Association for Civic Education and Democracy, briefly
SVOD (in Czech), is an open, apolitical
and voluntary association of citizens which keep in mind the importance of
education to citizenship for further development of democracy in our country.
The main goal is the improvement of current status in this education. Our main goal is to prepare every pupil for the role of a well-informed citizen, being able to take responsibility and make decisions, expressing views, respecting the others and actively participating in public life. Very inventive work is required to stimulate our students to adopt and internalize their attitudes. Certain optimal proportion between the information and the knowledge/experience offered in civic education (and other subjects respecting interdisciplinary relationships) or gathered by students themselves, and between the students' attitudes and their emotional motivation must be respected to reach the educational effect in its complexity. |
